BANAFSH is an Iranian band led by composer, lyricist, and vocalist Payman Abdali. While BANAFSH is also the stage name of Payman Abdali, it is primarily the name of the band through which his compositions are performed.

BANAFSH presents Payman Abdali’s original works in a living, collaborative form. Over the years, the band’s lineup has changed, while Payman has remained the creative core and guiding artistic force behind the project.

Drawing on experimental music, poetry, performance, and Iranian musical influences, BANAFSH creates a distinctive sound shaped by atmospheric textures, ritualistic rhythms, and cinematic expression. The band’s work moves between dark ambient, spoken-word, and percussive forms, blending contemporary sound design with deep emotional and cultural resonance.
